Create your first site

These docs are aimed at developers experienced with WordPress development, and assumes a basic understanding of WordPress folder structure.

Step by step

  1. Using whatever method you prefer to set up WordPress; download the latest version and install it in a local development environment.

  2. Download the PorterWP skeleton theme from the PorterWP public repo

  3. Add the theme to the wp-content/themes folder and activate it in WordPress admin.

  4. Obtain a PorterWP licence from https://porterwp.com and download the latest plugin version.

  5. Install PorterWP (Premium) in your wp-content/plugins folder. n.b. We do not recommend using mu-plugins as this prevents users from updating PorterWP through the admin panel.

  6. Activate the plugin and enter your license key.

Congratulations, you now have a WordPress installation running PorterWP!
